Emtec Consulting Engineers provided comprehensive MEP engineering services for the 2,500-square-foot renovation of an existing building into a new café featuring a dining area and a fully equipped commercial kitchen.

• Mechanical: Designed all new HVAC equipment serving the dining area along with a kitchen exhaust system and code-compliant Ansul fire suppression system and dedicated makeup air unit to ensure proper ventilation and safety.

• Plumbing: Specified a gas-fired water heater and hot water circulation system to meet Department of Health standards; designed a plumbing layout including a grease trap for the three-compartment sink and commercial dishwasher.
• Electrical: designed a new 400-amp electrical service and coordinated with PSEG to support the café’s kitchen equipment, lighting, and HVAC systems.

Our design supported a smooth transformation from shell to café, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and code compliance throughout.
